Volunteer Overseas With
The Daneford Trust is a youth exchange organisation supporting individual young people & groups from around London, to volunteer overseas as part of community development projects in Africa, Asia and the Caribbean. Through its work, it aims to promote global citizenship and respect through educational and cultural exchanges.
Who Are The Danford Trust?
The Daneford Trust was set up in 1982 and is a grassroots youth exchange and education charity based in Tower Hamlets and Hackney, East London. We offer ethical overseas volunteering placements to community-based projects in Africa, Asia and the Caribbean for Londoners aged 18-30.
In London as in other cities of the UK and abroad, there are many young people affected by social disadvantage and sadly the problem of serious youth violence has increased dramatically in recent years.
The Daneford Trust promotes the idea of the young person gaining from volunteering overseas who due to barriers or individual circumstances might not see or seize such an opportunity. It acts as a mentor and facilitating agency for young people to realise their individual goals of volunteering abroad for a limited period. Partner grant-giving organisations with whom the Daneford Trust has a longstanding relationship, can support each young person to meet their living costs while on placement
The Daneford Trust also believes that through active planning for their placements abroad and then telling their individual stories on return to their home communities, the young people will grow and will build resilience and employability.
